Rev. Steve Casteel
Steve comes to Heritage with a passion to share the love of God through his preaching and leadership. As he begins his ministry he wants you to know that his personal mission statement is “Live Loved.” It is centered in John 3: 16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son.” He is driven by his love of people and a deep desire for us all to discover God’s call for our lives. He is excited about joining the ministry of this vibrant congregation as they live into their mission to “Connect, Grow, and Go.”
Steve has a heart for missions and outreach. He has served missions to Zimbabwe and Nicaragua; as well as, support efforts in Cambodia and Belize. Locally, he is on the Advisory Board of “Stop Hunger Now” and other community outreach programs addressing issues of poverty. He is an advocate for health and wellness and has worked with Edwards Street Mission, Petal Center for Families and Children, and Christian Services.
Steve graduated Mississippi State University with a BA in Social Work and Corrections. He finished Candler School of Theology with a Masters of Divinity. He participated in the Board of Discipleship’s Preaching Academy and Duke Divinity School’s United Methodism and American Culture Study. He teaches Transformative Leadership for the Course of Study at Millsaps College. Steve has received the Millsaps Business Advantage Certification.
Steve has served congregations in Mathiston, Louisville, Olive Branch, Morton, Petal, St. Matthews, and Clinton, He also served as Director of Connection and Communication for the Mississippi Annual Conference.
Steve currently serves as the Executive Director and Host of the United Methodist Hour Ministry. He is married to Cindy. They have two adult children, Cari and Matt.
