SAIL Support Group
SAIL is a support group that meets twice a month to provide support, hope, and healing to those who suffer from infertility, as well as those who have lost a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, or neonatal loss. Wanting a child or losing a child leaves one with a sense of “loss”-- the loss of dreams, hopes, and futures. Whether the loss is recent or past, it is imperative that people have a network of support to aid in the healing process. It is also important to have a setting within which one can discuss his or her feelings openly with others who have shared a similar experience. Enduring infertility or pregnancy/infant loss can lead to many of the same emotions: anger, sadness, hopelessness, and despair. This depth of emotions can only be completely understood by people who have been there. SAIL aims to guide participants in acknowledging their pain, remembering their loss, and moving towards healing.
SAIL also offers support to those contemplating, pursuing or waiting on an adoption to be finalized. Adopting a child into your family is an amazing experience filled with hope, anticipation, joy, faith and love. But the road that leads to adoption can also be filled with questions, frustrations, fears and a lengthy wait. It can be helpful to talk to others who have adopted or those who are in the process of adopting. SAIL can provide Christian support and understanding to prospective adoptive parents. Heritage UMC is home to many families who have adopted children domestically and internationally. Heritage members have adopted from Nepal, Russia, China, Guatemala and the United States and would be thrilled to share their experiences and insights with you. You don’t have to wait alone.
The support group meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM
