Missions

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.  And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

Mission: Jamaica
This is a week long mission trip to the Island nation of Jamaica.  This trip is taken in the summer months and seeks to bring the love of Christ through children’s ministry such as Bible School and Feeding Programs. Construction is also involved as we have had the opportunity in the past years to help build a community center that will teach career-skill classes and Bible classes. The center will also provide a Children’s Feeding Program and counseling services.

Mission: Honduras
Under the leadership of Baptist Medical Dental Mission International (BMDMI), this is an eight day trip containing components of evangelism, medical, dental, pharmacy, eyeglass, children, veterinary, kitchen duty, and construction.  Upon arriving in Honduras, teams join with a Honduras doctor and dentist and work by their side for three days.  The typical work day last from 7:00am until 5:00pm. In the evenings, worship services are held from 7:00pm until 9:00pm.  Ministry is also done at the Good Shepherd’s Children’s Home for abused and abandoned children where children are raised in a loving Christian environment and prepared to take a responsible place in Honduran society.  The day before departure is spent seeing the sites of the mountain scenery of Honduras and souvenir shopping in the local shops.

Local Mission Opportunities
Heritage also seeks to not only to have a presence in the world but also in the local community of Hattiesburg.  By participating in programs such as Breadbasket, Edward Street Mission, Bethany Foundation, Project Angel Tree, Habitat for Humanity, USM Wesley Foundation, Foster Care Families, Christian Services, Operation Christmas Child, Helping Hands Ministry, Red Cross Disaster Relief, Salvation Army Disaster Relief. We also take Short Mission trips to the coast to help hurricane victims recover.  Our hope is to help by providing hope through a servant’s attitude.
