Ways to Honor/Remember
Your Baby

  • Apply for birth/death certificates if possible
  • Request a Life Certificate from SAIL/ have your baby’s name added to our Book of Remembrance
  • Wear family jewelry (Mother’s rings/ bracelets)
  • Have a professional portrait done of your baby (pencil drawing)  - www.portraitsbydana.com
  • Create a Memorial Garden or Memorial Stone Garden
  • Purchase flowers “In Memory Of” (special occasions at church, community events, etc.)
  • Release balloons on birthdays or other special days
  • Create remembrances on various websites. See SAIL Resources page
  • Create a scrapbook
  • Write letters to your baby at important times of the year
  • Keep a journal
  • Participate in the National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day on October 15th
  • Participate in the SAIL Candlelight Memorial Service in memory of babies in heaven held at Heritage United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg, MS on the first Tuesday of December
  • Create Christmas ornaments/ display a special Christmas tree each year in memory of your baby
  • Paint, draw, write poems or stories or find other methods to express your feelings at different stages of your grief journey.  Keep these pieces in a folder, box, etc.
  • Purchase a trunk or special box to place keepsakes, scrapbook, journals, etc. Share with friends and family members.
  • Participate in a worthy cause “In Honor Of” your baby, like the March of Dimes Walk America
  • Hang wind chimes of angels or doves or anything peaceful
  • Make a donation to a reputable children’s charity in your child’s name
  • Hang a cross or display an angel in your home in honor of your baby
  • Create a web site in honor of your baby to share with family/friends
